Glenglassaugh Distillery

Established: 1875

Location: Sandend

Glenglassaugh Distillery, located on the rugged coast of the Scottish Highlands near Sandend Bay, has a unique history dating back to 1875. After being mothballed for over two decades, the distillery was revived in 2008, bringing its distinctive coastal single malt back to life. What sets Glenglassaugh apart is its maritime influence, with sea air and briny notes subtly infusing its whiskies, alongside a rich fruitiness and sweet malt character. Known for its small-batch production, Glenglassaugh uses traditional methods and carefully selected casks, including sherry, bourbon, and red wine, to create complex, well-balanced spirits. The distillery’s blend of coastal terroir, craftsmanship, and renewed commitment to quality has earned it a growing reputation among whisky enthusiasts.
